Steve is a true enthusiast and an avid collector of all types of vehicles. He has been involved in Porsche Club of America driver education events since 1987 and received his PCA Club Racing License in 1998. He currently campaigns a 1978 911 SC in PCA Club Racing and Vintage Racers Group. Steve is also a 26-year veteran of Brock Yates’ Cannonball One Lap of America. Steve, along with 2 other partners, formed Performance Garage Club (PGC) in 2010 and operated it until June, 2020, when the club was sold. PGC is a true haven for car enthusiasts, incorporating a fully equipped shop for use by members, a member lounge, climate-controlled storage and events offered to members. Steve always had the dream of owning and operating an automobile dealership and shared that with Steve Erickson, the owner of Automotive Performance Solutions (APS) shortly after they met. Discussions got underway and those included Juergen Rahtz, another client of APS who had also expressed an interest in a dealership. So Enthusiast Motorcar Group (EMG) was formed and after many months of approval from the Township and also completing the application process with the Motor Vehicle Commission, EMG opened its doors.
Steve has been into cars pretty much his whole life. He grew up in a car family, working from a young age at his father’s dealership in Minnesota. Steve also got into racing, both behind the wheel and then under the hood. This lead him to a 35+ year career starting as a Porsche racing engineer for Holbert Racing and then opening up his own shop, Autosport in Trenton, NJ , which supported teams running in Indycar, Prototype, IMSA and Trans-Am. Steve then turned his attention to offering the same legendary service he provided on the track to street cars, opening Automotive Performance Solutions in Pennington, NJ. The shop offers fabrication, engineering, rebuilding, restoration and repair services to automotive enthusiasts. Opening EMG with his partners offers just another part of his expertise to their clients.
Juergen has been into sports cars since his teen-age years, working for BMW, Mercedes and Porsche in Germany as an engineer before coming to the US in 1996 and meeting Steve Erickson, working on car projects with him such as a BMW Z1 turbo. He shares the car enthusiasm of his 2 partners and is excited to develop the car dealership. He is especially interested in 80s and 90s Ferraris and doing track days with his modified 992 Carrera S. Through his friend in Germany, who is in the car biz as well, he has and is importing Ferraris from Europe to the US.
